1. Please note that all assignments are due in class on the due date (unless otherwise noted). Late assignments will be penalized at 3 marks (out of 100) per day. No assignment will be accepted more than two weeks after the deadline. If you are having difficulty, please come and talk to me.
  2. A note on plagiarism: Plagiarism, cheating and other forms of dishonesty are serious academic offenses.  Penalties range from a warning, to failure of the course with a notation on your transcripts, or suspension from university. It is the responsibility of the student to be aware of the rules and terms governing academic honesty.  We are all bound by the Brock University policy on academic integrity.  It is your responsibility to be aware of it.
  3. DISCLAIMER: SENSITIVE MATERIAL
In this course, content that contains sexually referenced or explicit material or that may offend personal sensitivities and beliefs may arise out of readings, discussion or viewing of visual materials. By remaining in the course, a student is giving his or her informed consent to such materials. Certainly students should feel free to absent themselves without penalty if content comes up to which they strongly object. Please see me about any such issues.
  4. Respect for classmates: Seminars will offer a chance for free discussion of works of art and related issues. While we are all free (and encouraged) to voice our opinions, it is expected that we do so in way that respects our classmates. Differences of opinion are valid; name calling or insults are not. All students are expected to follow the university code of conduct that states: “Students may think, speak, write, create, study, learn, pursue social, cultural and other interests and associate together for these purposes subject to the principles of mutual respect for the dignity, worth and rights of others as outlined by the Ontario Human Rights Code. All members of the University community, as members of society at large, are responsible to abide by federal, provincial and municipal laws in addition to University regulations.” More information is available here.
